Follow the trail of creatures, people, or vehicles - or cover your own - to manage pursuit, predict movement, or avoid being tracked.
Roll d100 + Tracking skill vs. DR 100
Opposed roll against tracking and similar.
On success, you may:
A) Follow a trail with accuracy
B) Cover your own trail, misleading or delaying pursuers
+10 to +30 DR for: Rocky, arid, or crowded terrain or Long time since movement occurred
+10 to +40 DR for being in a hurry (moving faster than 50% (+20 is standard movement).
–10 to –30 DR for: Fresh tracks, soft ground, predictable movement, Known terrain or species behavior
Track a fleeing animal across wetlands: DR 100, Roll 125 → SR = 25 - You follow the creature and anticipate its next rest point
Tracking allows you to interpret the environment to follow or conceal movement—whether from animals, humanoids, or vehicles. Signs include footprints, broken plants, scent trails, thermal residue, disturbed terrain, or displaced rocks.
Importantly, this skill can be used both offensively and defensively. A good tracker can read a trail as easily as they can erase one, guiding allies through terrain while misleading anyone who may follow. Whether hunting prey or avoiding being hunted, this skill is essential in natural and tactical operations.
