Aethyr Project Overseers are the hidden architects of the Initiative’s most volatile research programs—responsible for overseeing high-risk experiments involving unstable biotech, forbidden magic, arcane reactors, and spatial anomalies. They rarely conduct the work themselves, but nothing proceeds without their authorization. Their presence signals a shift from curiosity to containment; when one appears on-site, it often means something has already gone wrong—or is about to. Chosen for their ability to manage chaos with calm precision, Overseers must interpret conflicting reports, handle dangerous personnel, and issue final orders when projects cross the line from breakthrough to threat.

Many come into the role after surviving catastrophic failures or witnessing firsthand what happens when knowledge is pursued without restraint. Some are elevated from within, others placed by those who need eyes on things too dangerous to trust. It is a role that demands emotional detachment, ethical endurance, and an iron willingness to act when no one else will. Overseers don’t seek recognition. Their job is not to innovate, but to decide what should be allowed to exist—and what must be erased to protect everything else.

Profession Benefits

Predictive Risk Ledger: You have access to Aethyr's deep-pattern forecasting system—a classified database of past failures, behavioral anomalies, and emergent risk signatures. In critical moments, you may query the ledger to receive a predictive insight about the current situation. This insight comes in the form of a warning, likely consequence, or familiar failure pattern—allowing you to anticipate danger and adjust course before disaster strikes.

Crisis Reframe: You can reclassify an active threat as a "controlled variable" for administrative purposes. This may delay intervention by external forces, allowing you to handle the matter internally - often buying a few critical minutes.

Profession Restrictions

Forbidden Curiosity: You are not allowed to dig into projects outside your clearance level—even if you suspect something is wrong. Doing so may trigger internal surveillance or security intervention.

Subtle SurveillanceYou are routinely monitored by internal intelligence systems. Your emotional stability, decision patterns, and behavioral shifts can be logged and reviewed without your knowledge or consent.
